First picture on your phone of an Alpha event in 2025?

This picture was taken in a training session for church leaders in collaboration with Alpha and Compassion, in Kilifi, on Kenya’s coast. At the training, 282 church leaders were equipped to run Alpha and this is a picture of one of the youth leaders sharing about the impact of Alpha.

What is the vision for youth in your country or region?

In 2025, our team is aiming for 60% of all Alpha courses across Kenya to focus on youth. We are placing strong emphasis on engaging high schools and campuses, ensuring that every young person has the opportunity to explore faith and experience Jesus in a judgment-free, welcoming space.

Highlight of 2025 so far?

One of the most exciting developments this year has been the Alpha and Compassion partnership project, which began as a pilot in late 2024. In the coastal region, we trained 62 churches, and by early 2025, 32 churches launched Alpha, reaching 890 youth and recording 82 decisions for Christ. Among these was a young Muslim girl whose decision to follow Jesus after experiencing Alpha has deeply inspired many.

Since Compassion Kenya began using Alpha, all 437 church partners nationwide have been encouraged to integrate the course into their youth discipleship strategies. We’re preparing to scale this nationally, with the vision of impacting up to 140,000 children and youth through Compassion-affiliated churches in 2025.

What excites you about 2025?

We’re raising up a cohort of Alpha Youth Champions from across Kenya – leaders we’re mentoring to launch transformative Alpha experiences in their own communities. Scaling the Alpha-Compassion partnership to reach youth facing multidimensional poverty is also something that deeply excites me. Watching churches awaken and youth encounter Jesus personally… there’s nothing like it.

Current favourite Alpha product?

Alpha Youth Talks Africa (AYTA) has been a total game changer! It’s our first taste of what a contextualised African Alpha product looks like, and the response from youth leaders has been incredible.

Pastor Odek from Solace Youth Church, Nairobi shared, “Facilitating AYTA at Solace AGC has been transformative, especially with the unique dynamics of our audience – a mix of youth from affluent backgrounds and those from the ghetto. The African face of AYTA has been a game changer. For the first time, our youth saw themselves reflected in the stories and examples. Sessions became more engaging, and the simplicity of the programme made facilitation easier. I’ve witnessed moments of unity and deep spiritual curiosity that transcend backgrounds.”

What’s Next?

We’ll continue to scale the Alpha-Compassion partnership, connecting with Compassion leaders from all counties in Kenya to ensure they are equipped and mobilised for impact. This spring, we’ll also be participating in the annual HowToLife Conference – a global Gen Z evangelism movement – taking place in Kenya’s coastal region. The focus is on equipping young people to reach their generation with boldness and relevance.

Prayer Point

Please pray for the continued rollout of the Alpha-Compassion partnership across Kenya. Specifically, lift up the brave young girl from a Muslim background who gave her life to Jesus through Alpha. Her faith journey is touching many. Pray for her spiritual growth, for openness in her family, and for the thousands of other youth who will encounter Jesus through Alpha this year. We've already seen 82 commitments to Christ, and we believe God is calling us to even greater impact in 2025.
